7 Ways to Celebrate Earth Day 2021 – Chattanooga Edition

    1. Visit GreenSpaces.org

GreenSpaces is our local expert on all things sustainable and eco-conscious. In celebration of Earth Day 2021, they are holding their annual Eco-Field Day event (virtually). If you haven’t already registered, you can still do so. Eco-Field Day ends May 16th and is filled with fun activities and learning opportunities for all. GreenSpaces also offers various workshops and programs that can help you effortlessly reduce your carbon footprint so head over to their website!

    2. Seed Exchange at the Library

In 2019, the Chattanooga Public Library launched it’s seed exchange initiative. This program allows members to check out packets of vegetable, fruit, and flower seeds. Although the library does not require the packets to be returned, it does highly encourage members to save seeds and donate them back to the collection.

    3. Chattanooga Market – Opening Weekend

The Chattanooga Market is kicking off it’s 2021 season this weekend. To celebrate their 20th year anniversary, the Chattanooga Market will be open on Saturday, 4/24 and Sunday 4/25. This is a great opportunity to check out local artisans and support regional farmers.

    4. Crabtree Farms Online Plant Sale

Established in 1998, Crabtree Farms is more than just a sustainable urban farm. From educational offerings to volunteer opportunities, Crabtree Farms has been “growing, educating, and connecting” the Chattanooga community for 23 years. Through this Saturday, you can purchase fruit, vegetable and flower plants grown locally. Visit CrabTree Farms Spring Plant Sale

    5. Go Vegan for a Day

We have an excellent selection of vegan restaurants available in our city. Recently, NOOGAtoday compiled a list of restaurants that offer vegan-fare throughout the city and created THIS excellent resource.

    6. Picnic at the Park

Whether you want to indulge in a sandwich while being surrounded by art or prefer to relax by the water and take in the beauty of our city, Chattanooga has an open space for you. View your options HERE.

    7. Take a Hike (literally)!

One of the best ways to honor our planet is simply to appreciate what our natural surroundings have to offer. We are beyond blessed with a gorgeous landscape and geographic location here in Chattanooga so it goes without saying that we have an extensive list of options when it comes to hiking trails.
